Rotation 2 of the evaluation of our Type 3 next generation appliances has ended.

This rotation started in January with the Emergency One appliances being evaluated by Hamilton and Christchurch brigades and the Angloco appliances by Auckland City and Napier.

The evaluation phase of the procurement project comprised two rounds of our crews evaluating the appliances. Rotation 1 ran from September to December 2023 (you can read more on the Portal).

At the end of each rotation, the crews individually completed a user survey and provided their feedback on the appliances.

Analysis of the feedback is now taking place, and this will be used to influence the final design before we select our preferred supplier.

Over the next few months, the project will be focusing on activities such as:

  • Completing:
    • support and maintenance assessments
    • deployment of these appliances into the fleet
    • collaboration and partnership assessments
    • best and final offer assessments
    • the implementation business plan – which details how the project will transition to business as usual
    • the recommendation report, which will be presented to the Board for decision- making
    • lessons learned, to ensure these can be passed onto other similar projects
  • gathering decisions and preparing for the first order, once a supplier/s has been awarded the contract
  • collating, organising, and prioritising improvements for future orders (this includes changes that will be communicated to suppliers for best and final offer.
