Last week we advised that some work was being done around volunteer reimbursements for those who have been helping out with the Pigeon Valley fire and we have had discussions with unions and associations to work out what this will look like.
The ongoing efforts of all our personnel, including our volunteers, has been crucial to helping us fight the fires in Nelson over the last two weeks.To support our volunteers, Fire and Emergency are working with the UFBA and FRFANZ on a solution to reimburse our unpaid volunteers for the Nelson fires.

Fire and Emergency has coordinated another deployment of Kiwi firefighters and IMT personnel, this time to help our colleagues in Tasmania.
The pilot brigades are Te Kauwhata, Ngaruawahia, Rolleston, West Melton, Alexandra and Queenstown. We’ve also updated the timeline leading to the national roll out.
