Today is International Volunteer Day, a chance to acknowledge and thank our volunteers, and all those who support them, for keeping our communities safe.

We have around 12,000 volunteers at more than 600 stations across the motu. They, alongside our career firefighters, attend over 83,000 incidents every year, giving up their time (and sometimes their sleep!) to protect their communities.

To recognise and appreciate our volunteers today, we’re sharing a video on our social media based on our value Whanaungatanga – we are better together. You can now watch the video below.

This International Volunteer Day join us in thanking our volunteers, as well as the hundreds of businesses, organisations, self-employed volunteers, and whānau of our volunteers who play a vital role in helping us keep every corner of Aotearoa safe.
