Plimmerton Volunteer Fire Brigade advise of the passing of Life Member and former Chief Fire Officer Keith Askew on 14 July 2023. Keith joined the Brigade in 1954 and served at Chief from 1966 until his retirement in 1986.

Lower Hutt Fire Brigade advise the passing of Dave Thompson Wednesday 12 July 2023 aged 77. Dave was adamant he didn’t want a funeral and he was cremated on Thursday 13 July 2023.

Waihau Bay Volunteer Fire Brigade advise of the passing of ex-Controller Bill Green on 10 July 2023. Bill was one of the founding members of the Waihau Bay Rural Volunteer Brigade and was Controller from 1991 to 2019.

Ruatoria Volunteer Fire Brigade advise of the passing of SSO Royce Mathieson on 27 June 2023. Royce joined the Ruatoria Volunteer Fire Brigade in 1996 and served with the Brigade for many years.

Wellington District would like to advise the passing of ex Green Watch Senior Firefighter Ross Harvey on 29 June 2023. Ross was a long serving and greatly respected member of Porirua Fire Brigade. A private cremation was held for Ross over the weekend.

SFF Helen May Murphy passed away on 2 June 2023. Helen served for 30 years with the Chatham Island Fire Brigade before retiring in 2021. She was a well respected member of the Chatham and Pitt island communities.
