Team sent to assist with Papua New Guinea landslide
This morning we sent a team of our urban search and rescue personnel to Papua New Guinea to help with the devastation caused by a major landslide in Enga Province on 24 May.
Jade Halkett - updated with funeral details
Waihaorunga Volunteer Fire Brigade are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Firefighter Jade Halkett on Saturday 25 May 2024. A celebration of Jade’s life will be held at Waimate A&P Showgrounds Pavillion, 26 Hakataramea Highway, Waimate, on Tuesday, 4 June at 2pm.

Terry Cook
With heavy hearts, Invercargill Fire Brigade advise of the passing of Terry Cook (SFF – Brown Watch) on 27 May 2024 at Southland Hospital.
Terry served with the Invercargill Fire Brigade from October 2005 until October 2023.

On Tuesday, three of our people received awards on behalf of their teams at the prestigious New Zealand Search and Rescue Awards at Parliament.
Big week for our USAR team
Next week is a big week for our Urban Search and Rescue team as they are tested for their reclassification as an international deployable team.
Lawrence Snelgar
Hutt–Wairarapa Operational Support Unit advise of the passing of Lawrence Wilbur Snelgar on 12 May. Lawrence served with the Marton Volunteer Fire Brigade from 1952 until 1954, the Wellington Fire Station from 1955 to 1956 and the Lower Hutt Central Fire station from 1956 until 1981.
Eifion Williams
Urenui brigade announce the passing of Eifion Williams, ex-member of Urenui Brigade and former mechanic at Bell Block Service Centre.
The funeral will be held at the Knox Presbyterian Church, 17 Grey Street, Waitara. Commencing at 11:00 on Friday 24th May.
