Wellington District advise of the passing of ex Assistant Fire Commander Dave Owens (Wellington).

Dave started his service in the UK and emigrated to New Zealand to become a firefighter in Hamilton in 1973. Dave was promoted to an Assistant Fire Commander role in Wellington in 1989 and left NZFS in 1995.

Dave was an enthusiastic and popular commander in Wellington who kept in touch with staff over the years since he left the organisation. He will be missed.

Dave’s funeral will be held Wednesday 20 September 2023 at 2pm at Newtown Fire Station. Serving members are requested to wear full service uniform with medals and caps (for guard of honour). Light refreshments will be served following the funeral at Newtown Station.
