On 15 August, in Levin, we staged a controlled house fire that was broadcast live on Seven Sharp to show Aotearoa New Zealand the dangers of incorrectly charging lithium-ion battery products, how fast fire can spread and the importance of escape plans and interconnected smoke alarms.

The next day, reporter Lucas de Jong returned to the site of the burn with the local students and Senior Advisor Community Readiness and Recovery Anna Gordon, for a follow up fire safety lesson.
