The Paraparaumu Fire Brigade celebrated 75 years of service to their local community last weekend.

The brigade hosted around 2,000 members of the local community at a station open day. Attendees were treated to station tours, fire trucks on display, a live kitchen fire display, a free sausage sizzle and a colouring-in competition for the kids.

The community open day was followed by their official jubilee function for members past and present held at the Southward Car Museum. Crew members shared the history of the brigade and spoke to its service to the community.

A full timeline of the brigade’s history – including photos of the different trucks from over the years was published on the Kapiti News website – check it out(external link).
