Today was a special day for five of our people. Murray Binning (Kumeu), Wayne Martin (Kawakawa), Paul Wilkins (Murchison), Bill Harris (Clinton), and Gina Chaffey-Aupouri (Ruatōria) all received their Royal Honours from Governor General, Dame Cindy Kiro at Government House.

Brian Vincent (Ōpunake) was also presented with his Royal Honours at a ceremony earlier in the week.

These honours recognise their inspiring contribution to their communities as well as Fire and Emergency New Zealand.

Fire and Emergency Chief Executive, Kerry Gregory congratulates all recipients.

“This is a truly remarkable achievement; one they should all be extremely proud of,” he says.

“Fire and Emergency is certainly proud of them.”
