Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon Barbara Edmonds, visited Fire and Emergency's National Coordination Centre in Wellington on Wednesday.

The Minister, who stepped into the role following a Cabinet reshuffle two weeks ago, was given an overview of both our response to Cyclone Gabrielle, and our ongoing support of the relief effort in Turkey and Syria following the earthquake there, by Response Coordinator Ian Duncan, Assistant National Commander Steve Turek and Deputy National Commander Brendan Nally.

Minister Edmonds took a keen interest in Fire and Emergency's role in both responses, gaining invaluable insights into how the organisation runs a coordinated reponse such as the ongoing efforts with Cyclone Gabrielle.
