We’re making our values visible because they matter. Our values describe who we are as an organisation and guide how we should behave. In fact, they underpin our shared Code of Behaviour.

If you have logged into your computer this week, you will have seen something new. Our login screens now feature our four values:

  • kia tika, we do the right thing
  • manaakitanga, we serve and support
  • whanaungatanga, we are better together
  • auahatanga, we strive to improve.

In today’s video, Russell is asking all of us to highlight our values in action and call out when our colleagues demonstrate kia tika, manaakitanga, whanaunatanga or auahatanga as we go about our work.

This check in and acknowledgement should be a regular part of our team conversations.

And we want to hear about them too. We’ll be sharing examples from around the country of how we are walking our talk, so make sure you chat with each other and let your leaders know about people who are putting our values in action.

Finally, we now have our values displayed in our meeting rooms and shared spaces here at NHQ. We know lots of our places have already got posters up (ka pai NTC) but if you need any for your station or office, you can email the Eke Taumata inbox and they will get them out to you.

More information about our values and how we can demonstrate them at work is on the Portal.
