Improvements made to online training application form
Every year we process around 20,000 applications for training with the vast majority of these using our online training application form.
The form has been available since October 2022 and since then we have made several improvements to the form and how it works.
Here are some recent updates we’ve made to improve the form:
- Published Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) [PDF, 206 KB] on the Portal to help you fill in the form
- Included more information upfront about improvements we are making to our training assurance mechanisms
- Have made all training application forms available on the same Portal page (including the Brigade Bulk Training Application Form which allows multiple people from the same brigade to apply for the same course)
- Updated the names in the Station / team list to reflect the names from the People Branch Reset for example, Learning and Development. These are also updated in the approver notification email
Improvements we are working on in the weeks and months ahead:
- Including more information in the Notes section for the course selection section so that people can confirm they are applying for the correct course
- Looking at ways to automate and include more selections to make it easier to use
We will continue to look at how we can improve the form and the experience of people applying for training. This has been a key part of our plan and decision to use the online form.
