Have your say on kaupapa Māori within FENZ
Kaupapa Māori refers to Māori topics, practices and approaches,
Check your inbox e hoa mā, it's that time of year again when we need your valuable input on our organisation's kaupapa Māori initiatives.
On Monday we sent an email from "notifications@askyourteam.com" with the subject line "Seeking your feedback on Kaupapa Māori within FENZ", to all our volunteers and full time paid staff. The survey asks for your input on the following six questions regarding kaupapa Māori within our organisation:
- Tikanga Māori (Māori culture) is recognised at Fire and Emergency NZ, such as karakia, pōwhiri, mihi etc.
- Tikanga Māori (Māori culture) is imbedded at Fire and Emergency NZ, such as karakia, pōwhiri, mihi etc.
- I recognise the importance of tikanga Māori at Fire and Emergency NZ (such as karakia, powhiri, mihi etc)
- I feel comfortable using tikanga Māori at Fire and Emergency NZ (such as karakia, powhiri, mihi etc)
- Are you aware of our commitment statement to work with Māori as tangata whenua at Fire and Emergency NZ?
- Are you familiar with the Hiwa-i-te-rangi, the Māori Outcomes Programme?
Fire and Emergency is on a journey to become a more culturally capable organisation and in 2021 we launched the Hiwa-i-te-rangi programme to improve the way we serve and connect with Māori in our communities. Māori are also disproportionately affected by harm from unwanted fire, and this can no longer be the way. We’re at a stage where we need to hear from you to see how it’s been going.
The questions in this survey are the same as a 2022 survey, which allows us to measure changes over the past two years. If we’re going to create a difference we need Hiwa-i-te-rangi to work for everyone at Fire and Emergency. Your responses today help us ensure we’re making the right decisions going forward.
