For the first time in ComCen history, a recent event celebrated the awarding of four Gold Stars (recognising 25 years’ service).

Accumulatively this represents 100 years’ service to our Communications Centres and the people of Aotearoa New Zealand.

The event took place on 9 September when the Southern Fire Communications Centre (Southcoms) celebrated their people and recognised their service.

Chief Executive Kerry Gregory attended as a special guest, as well as many others from Fire and Emergency New Zealand and their whānau, with some coming from Australia.

Those recognised for 25 years’ service were:

Shift Manager Lyn Crosson

Senior Dispatcher Daryl Ball

Senior Dispatcher Mau Barbara

Dispatcher Ian Thornton

Other members of staff were awarded their three years’ service certificate, five years’ service medal and additional two years’ service bars. Congratulations everyone!
