It is with immense sorrow that the Tūrangi Fire Brigade advise of the passing of Firefighter Whaea Cheri-Lu Flight.

Cheri-Lu started her journey with us in June 2011 and found her happy place driving our vehicles. When we got our new Tanker she claimed it as her own and made sure the team looked after “her truck”. Cheri’s proudest contribution would be in the role of “Awhi” Officer where she cared for the wellbeing of all our members and their whānau.

Turangi Fire Station will fly their New Zealand flag at half mast as a sign of respect during this time and our profile picture denotes a thin red line to represent the loss of Cheri-Lu

Cheri will rest at the Tūrangi Fire Station Friday 23rd Feb 2024 and all are welcome to visit during the day or attend the poroporoaki in the evening, followed by a brigade escort to Taupo on Saturday 24 Feb 2024 with her service at The Founders Chapel Of Remembrance 117 Rickit Street, Taupō at 11am.

Uniformed members please wear full undress uniform with caps.

All our aroha goes out to her whānau and friends as we come together to remember, support and grieve the loss of Cheri-Lu.
