We all deserve to live in a world where there are zero road deaths and injuries, and people can get around in ways that are safe, sustainable, healthy and enjoyable. Sadly, the reality is far from this. In New Zealand, approximately 300 people die every year on our roads and the number of people killed annually in road crashes across the globe is expected to rise to 1.8 million by 2030.

This Road Safety Week is a timely reminder for us all to be safe behind the wheel. Road Safety Week, run by the road safety charity, Brake(external link), gives us the opportunity to share and promote road safety, an important topic for our people who regularly attend car crashes and see first-hand the reality of what can happen when things go wrong on our roads.
