We’ve recently refreshed our Transparency Statement on the Fire and Emergency New Zealand website. This statement outlines how and why we gather information, building trust and confidence in our management of information with the communities we serve, and ensuring the New Zealand public has transparency over how we collect, use and protect their information.

The Transparency Statement is just one part of the wider work being undertaken to ensure Fire and Emergency complies with the Public Service Commission’s Model Standards for Information Gathering. The standards set out best practice for the collection and management of information gathered as part of an agency’s regulatory compliance, law enforcement, and security functions. They also cover the policy framework and organisational safeguards agencies are expected to have and use to support these information gathering activities.

You can find more information on the Public Service Commission’s Model Standards for Information Gathering here(external link).

We intend to launch a new page on the Portal so you will be able to find out more information about the Model Standards for Information Gathering (MSIG) project and follow developments.
