About the survey

We’ve heard your feedback about previous people surveys being too long, hard to access and that it takes too long to hear the results.

That’s why this year we're doing things differently. Instead of running one long survey we’ll run three short ‘pulse check’ surveys over a year. Each survey will take around three minutes to complete.

The first survey will ask about people experience and leadership capability.

The other two, coming up next year, will ask about:

  • diversity, inclusion and cultural capability, and,
  • safety, health and wellbeing.

The themes are based off the strategic goals of our Tauākī Takune 2023–2027 - Statement of Intent.

Our partner Ipsos(external link) is independently running the survey for us. They will ensure all responses are treated in the strictest confidence to maintain your confidentiality. They have a wealth of experience with this type of mahi. Fire and Emergency will not receive individual survey responses, and we’ll only be able to report on and see responses at an aggregated level.

The Executive Leadership Team is committed to using the results of these surveys to shape actions and priorities. We will also be sharing the results openly with all people, and our Unions and Associations.

We expect to share the high-level results with you within a month of the survey closing.
