Evaluation of our four next generation Type 3 appliances is underway.

The two Emergency One appliances are at Auckland City Station (Pump Rescue Tender) and Napier Station (Pump). The two Angloco appliances are at Hamilton Station (Pump) and Christchurch City Station (Pump Rescue Tender).

The Evaluation phase is comprised of two rounds of our crews trialling the appliances and we have started Rotation 1 which will end in December this year. The appliances will then be checked over and the crews will provide feedback through surveys.

Rotation 2 starts in January when the appliances will be swapped over – the Emergency One appliances will go to Hamilton and Christchurch and the Angloco appliances will go to Auckland and Napier. Rotation 2 ends in April 2024 and crews will then again provide feedback through surveys.

As well as exposing the appliances to real-world operational scenarios, there will be targeted drills (baseline evolutions) to ensure all key functions and components of the appliances are used and tested.

Feedback from staff evaluating these appliances will be used to influence the final design before we select our preferred supplier.
