Last year's survey, sent to members of the New Zealand Firefighters Welfare Society (NZFFWS), highlighted that some members felt support was not offered when it was needed.

NZFFWS is an independent organisation, so it relies on being advised when members require assistance. Privacy of members is paramount so personnel/member information can’t be shared. Having representation at all Brigades is one way to ensure NZFFWS can provide the support required.

This is where we need your support. The NZFFWS has been working on a new structure that will enable a wider reach of support and would like interested parties to apply to be Area Welfare Representatives for their Regions.

This exciting new voluntary role will be the link between Station Representatives, Roving Representatives, and our members. The Area Welfare Representative will be reporting directly to the Regional Welfare Managers (currently called Regional Welfare Representatives) and the Office. We estimate this role will be a commitment of five hours per week. As a goodwill gesture and acknowledgement of the importance of this new role, you will receive free membership to the NZFFWS and your travel expenses will be covered.

If you’re interested, in the first instance please contact your Local Representative for more details and a job description. With your support, we can build our organisation and support our wider family of members.
