Following a robust recruitment process, a group of diverse and well-respected locals have been appointed to the Tairāwhiti and Chatham Islands Local Advisory Committees.

Representing a range of community interests, all new members have strong local connections and knowledge along with a variety of skills, experience and insight that will be incredibly valuable as we work to enable communities to better prepare for, respond to, and recover from, emergencies.

You can find out more about the new and existing committee members via the links below:

The Chatham Islands and Tairāwhiti committees are two of seven LACs set up in 2020 to provide local, independent advice to our Board about what communities value, their needs and the risks they face. Our LACs help to strengthen Fire and Emergency’s relationships with communities and shape the future of our support for them by enabling us to better understand what matters - now and in the future.

You can find out more about LACs and what committees have been up to on our website(external link), or read our update in the Spring issue of Ignite(external link).
