The Fire and Emergency Commanders Association (FECA) and Fire and Emergency have signed a new Collective Employment Agreement (CEA) covering those in operational firefighting management, District/Group Manager and senior specialist positions.

FECA is a professional body that represents the interests of Fire and Emergency Commanders across New Zealand. Its members lead and manage career and volunteer firefighters throughout New Zealand.

The new CEA introduces a Strategic Relationship Panel to give effect to the commitments in the Statement of Understanding at the beginning of the agreement, and to identify, explore and advance the matters important to both organisations to the benefit of all. The Panel is an innovative concept that is made possible by the mature and collaborative relationship we have with FECA.

Other highlights of the agreement are:

  • Recognition of the out of hours availability that geographically based DMs and GMs offer Fire and Emergency and our people.
  • Acknowledgement of the contribution and roster participation of our ComsCen Managers and Ops Managers.
  • An acknowledgement of the strategic and operational nature of the District Manager Roles.
  • An agreed phased approach for FECA members who are in roles as at the date of ratification of the CEA, that recognises the skills and experience those individuals bring to their current roles as we transition to the full implementation of Paearu Mahi.
  • Support to access baseline health checks and reimbursements for income and life insurance.

The new CEA is now available to download from The Portal

We will be publishing a news release and updating the information page on our website tomorrow.
