Introducing Ken Keenan, Brigade Controller Hedgehope Volunteer Fire Brigade
“Back in 1999 we built our own three bay fire station. Now we have a couple of tankers too. With those and our brigade members who are farmers, agricultural contractors, truck-drivers and engineers, we get called out to help out other brigades all across Southland.”
This National Volunteer Week, we’re thanking our 11,500 plus volunteers for missing precious moments in their lives to protect our communities. They’re part of our team of 14,000 at Fire and Emergency which includes career firefighters, trainers, our communication centres, and admin and support staff.
