Free flu vaccinations remain available for all people at Fire and Emergency, whether you’re a volunteer, employee, or a contractor.

With our international border open again, the flu is again entering the country from overseas. While getting the flu vaccination is optional, it means you can better protect yourself, colleagues and whānau from getting the flu.

Receiving the flu vaccination ensures your immune system is stronger over the winter months. It takes approximately two weeks to be fully protected, so if you haven’t received yours yet, we recommend booking an appointment as soon as you are able.

The COVID-19 vaccine does not protect against the flu, so it is important to get both your COVID-19 and flu vaccine to be better protected. These can be received at the same time.

If you’ve recently had COVID-19, the Ministry of Health recommends waiting until you are recovered.

Our dedicated Portal page has all the information you need. You can also read more about influenza and the vaccination at www.fightflu.co.nz(external link).
