Asbestos Management Plans
In June last year, we received an Improvement Notice from WorkSafe under sections 101 and 116 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.
The Improvement Notice related to our asbestos management plans and recommended we:
- ensure that the controls specified in the Asbestos Management Plan for 40 Pitt Street are implemented; and
- review all Asbestos Management Plans presently managed by Fire and Emergency New Zealand to ensure they are implemented, monitored and effective.
In December 2023, WorkSafe Inspectors carried out 16 assessments of our workplaces across the motu to determine if we had followed the recommendations in the Improvement Notice. WorkSafe concluded that we had, and that we are complying with our duties on asbestos management at our workplaces. WorkSafe has now confirmed the file is closed.
