When you are finished at the incident:

Safely remove PPE

Follow the instructions for safe removal of PPE .

Check your exposure risk

Were you wearing all the correct PPE for medical response during COVID-19? [link deleted, page archived 2024-04-16 HWE]

Have you removed your PPE safely, and is it uncompromised?

Check what your risk of exposure has been.

Was it controlled, uncontrolled or contaminated based on the definitions on the Exposure at incidents  page [link deleted, page archived 2024-04-12 HE]?

Notifications

If you have been involved at an incident with a COVID-19 risk, you must notify:

  • the duty Senior Officer via ComCen and the District Manager
  • Region HSO / Safety & Wellbeing Advisor.
  • the duty Health Protection Officer (District health Board)

Report in Safe@Work

Every incident which you attend that includes exposure to a patient with suspected COVID-19 must be entered into Safe@Work as an Exposure event.

Please include information on the type of exposure (Controlled, Uncontrolled or Contamination), based on the definitions on the Exposure at incidents page [link deleted, page archived 2024-04-12 HE], information on the PPE worn, duration, and any other relevant information to the exposure.

This will assist if tracing is required, and to monitor any workplace exposures.

Return to station

Book your vehicle as K-10 while you

  • Clean the vehicle, following M5 SOP-E COVID-19 Vehicle cleaning - COVID-19 [Link deleted, page archived 2024-04-12 HE]
  • Clean yourself - have a shower and get changed into clean clothing.
