The ICT team have been made aware of a technical change in which users are being forced to set up the Microsoft Authenticator app as a form of multi-factor authentication when attempting to log into their Fire and Emergency accounts.

The change was made by Microsoft which occurred sooner than expected.  We currently only require users to set up SMS messaging as multi-factor authentication.

Any changes to the current authentication process would require consultation across the organisation and would be thoroughly communicated to our personnel.

We are currently making an emergency change to revert back to SMS messaging as our multi-factor authentication method. We aim to implement this by close of business today. Thank you to the users who have made us aware of this issue.

If you have any further issues or concerns, please contact our 24 hour service desk on 0800 374 843.
