Area 3 is asking for applications from existing Area 3 Station Officers to fill internal vacancies. This process will be run as a trial based on the procedure agreed to by the Auckland local branch of the NZPFU.
There has been a number of questions regarding Increased wear to Aluminium Trussed Rescue Ladders. The notice 010/2019 dated 06/05/19 on the portal outlined instructions regarding limiting the ladders use “until” it had been inspected. All region 1 ladders have been inspected.

On 9 July, 2019 it will be 25 years since Firefighter Jim Hughes was tragically killed on duty whilst attending an incident on the Northern Motorway. A remembrance ceremony will be held at the Birkenhead Fire Station at 0930 hours on Tuesday 9 July, 2019.
The responsibilities as outlined in the Waitemata Fire Area Total Station workload management document have not changed for several years. This notice is to advise that they will change from 1 July 2019 .
Following his serious accident at Birkenhead station last week Will Mahuru has undergone 2 surgeries – one at North Shore hospital and one at Middlemore hospital.

Area Manager Murray Binning is on annual leave from Saturday 1 June 2019 and returns on Monday 15 July 2019. Assistant Area Manager John Booth will be the Acting Area Manager for the Waitemata Fire Area from Tuesday 4 June until Friday 28 June 2019.
At all hazmat and structure fire calls including calls to private fire alarms, Level 2 PPE is to be worn by all members of the operational crew including the pump operator/driver. The Level 1 wildfire jacket is not appropriate PPE at hazmat, structure and PFA calls.
