Earlier this year many of our crews responded to what is referred to as the “Ngongotaha Flood”. Crews assisted in the evacuation of residents in the area to a place of safety.

For several years now, Graeme Hoole of the Putaruru Volunteer Fire Brigade has represented the volunteers of Central Lakes as their representative on the Area Safety and Wellbeing Committee. He has then also represented all volunteers as the UFBA representative on the Region 2 committee.

The Ministry of Primary Industries is currently managing an outbreak of Mycoplasma Bovis, a cattle disease, in New Zealand. Firefighters may need to access infected farms when fighting rural or structural fires, or for other activities.
