Fire and Emergency Comcens use Selcall (selective tone calling) to mobilise or alert fire appliances and stations. This, alongside paging, is the primary alerting method. A significant portion of the “end to end” process that allows Selcall to operate is old technology and no longer meets our needs for a modern emergency service.
Studies show that it can take up to 45 minutes for a first responders’ adrenalin, cortisol and other stress hormones to equalize after a stressful event, with further stress during this time potentially increasing the risk of developing a psychological injury as well as reducing one’s ability to make sound logical decisions.
