In 2016 Fire and Emergency New Zealand commence a national project in relation to “Working Safely Around Water” which has seen a national rollout of equipment to identified Stations. The rollout of equipment should be concluded by 31st March 2018.

Having just completed my first three weeks in the AAM Timaru role I wanted to pass on how impressed I am with what I am seeing throughout the brigade.
All Stations must complete annual hose testing [including all spare hose] and water way equipment testing, for the year 2018-2019. All hose and water way equipment are to be tested as per the latest version of the Hose Technical Manual E4-1 and Waterway equipment testing RD5-9.
Station Spring Clean Visit for the 2018-2019 Financial year starting 1st July 2018.
The annual "station spring clean visit" is due for the Waitemata Fire Area from about early March 2018.
There is an "alleged" hoax caller operating within the Manawatu Area trying to sell, and be endorsed to sell, smoke alarms. The caller is going by the name of Alan, advising that he is from the Fire Safety Department, and is of foreign descent.
Stations may soon be receiving fumigation notification forms for premises.
On 17 January 2018 Fire and Emergency New Zealand received notice from the New Zealand Fire and Emergency Commanders Association initiating bargaining for a collective employment agreement under the Employment Relations Act 2000.
