Fire and Emergency legislation (2017) mandated many functions of which fire Services have not traditionally beeninvolved in, as well as providing legislation for new functions, much of which has yet to be developed.
These awards have been established in this region to provide formal recognition to Fire and Emergency teams, individuals and members of the community who have demonstrated outstanding excellence and contribution to our organisation and the communities that we serve.

Recently Central Lakes Area received a formal complaint from the New Zealand Police in relation to a photograph of an incident where the Police were the lead agency and the photograph making it into the community.

A reminder to all employees and volunteers about the Fire and Emergency Media Policy. The policy sets out the expected behaviours and rules that apply when working with the media and/or using social media.
Earlier this year many of our crews responded to what is referred to as the “Ngongotaha Flood”. Crews assisted in the evacuation of residents in the area to a place of safety.
