New Zealand ShakeOut is taking place on Thursday 19 October 2023 at 9:30am, to remind people of the right actions to take during an earthquake: Drop, Cover and Hold. You can also practice a tsunami hīkoi (evacuation) if you're in a coastal area.

If the date and time don’t work for you, you can ShakeOut anytime within two weeks of the national drill and still be counted.

ShakeOut provides an opportunity to put our plans in place, practice them, and learn where and how we can improve. It’s also a great way to connect with the communities we serve.

Sign up for New Zealand ShakeOut

To take part in the drill, you can sign up(external link) as an individual, brigade or station. It only takes two minutes to sign up and you’ll receive all the information you need to do the drill.

There's also a whole range of resources(external link) to help promote your ShakeOut event.
