On Monday we launched our fourth annual survey of external partners and stakeholders, conducted by independent research firm Verian (formerly Kantar Public) on our behalf.

The survey runs from 29 April to 26 May 2024.

If stakeholders or partners mention the survey invite to you, please encourage them to respond. The online survey should take around 10 minutes to complete, and it has been trimmed back from recent years.

Why do we survey our stakeholders?

Engagement is an ongoing, regular activity happening at multiple levels across Fire and Emergency and across the country. As we respond to an increasing number of (and more severe) events, it is important that we have mutual trust and confidence with our partners and stakeholders and work to strengthen our relationships with them.

This includes us seeking input and valuing collaboration from our partners, so together we can tackle the challenges we face and advance the opportunities we share, as well as seeking to understand the needs and perspectives of the communities we serve, so we can deliver our services to best meet those needs.

The main objective of the survey is to provide us with an understanding of stakeholder satisfaction among the organisations we currently engage with, and to prioritise areas to focus on in order to improve satisfaction and engagement. We report the % net level of satisfaction as a measure in our annual Statement of Performance Expectations.

How have we performed in previous years?

Previous years’ survey results tell us that, although we continue to achieve the stakeholder satisfaction target in our SPE (currently 60%), we can do better when it comes to some key attributes that have a high impact on satisfaction. In particular, we want to be better at proactively engaging with stakeholders to understand their needs, communicate our priorities, identify shared goals, and build trust and confidence.

You can find last year’s stakeholder survey on the Engagement Hub here on the Portal: Annual stakeholder surveys.

What happens to the results?

Individual responses remain confidential to Verian and are analysed and reported in such a way as to protect stakeholders’ identity and privacy. Verian will provide us with a report that we will use to inform our engagement with partners and stakeholders at all levels.

Delivering our services effectively to communities relies on our Branches and Districts engaging meaningfully and collaborating effectively with partners and stakeholders, including Local Advisory Committees. Insights from the survey will be communicated and used to help achieve this.

Once the survey is completed, you’ll hear more about when and how we plan to share and act on the results, including sharing a summary of findings with stakeholders.
