Our latest Volunteerism Strategy six-month progress report

Without our people, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do best – to protect and preserve lives, property, and the environment. That’s why you, our volunteers, are recognised for the key role you play in the community and our organisation in our 2019-2029 Volunteerism Strategy(external link).

To ensure we are being transparent about the progress against our Volunteerism Strategy, we’ve recently published the second of two volunteerism strategy reports. Watch the video below for a quick summary.

We hope you have experienced some of the changes we’ve made since June and want to use this opportunity to thank you, your families, whānau and employers for all you do for us.

Any feedback on the report is welcome, just contact us on to volunteer@fireandemergency.nz.

The is our first, scene-setting, six-month report. This report provides a starting point from which we will track our progress and evolve our understanding. The report highlights areas of success, where we need to do more, and how we can continue to learn and improve our practice.

This second report builds on the first and shows how we’re working to improve how we plan, design, and monitor our progress to drive greater accountability and embedding volunteerism in how we work. It demonstrates how implementing our Volunteerism Strategy improves outcomes for volunteers, the broader workforce, and for the organisation, reports on the initiatives that are underway to embed volunteerism practices and signals future work that will help the organisation achieves it business objectives and better outcomes for volunteers.
