Process overview - volunteer recruitment
The table below shows the steps, tools and responsibilities in each stage of the urban volunteer recruitment process.

Informal interview Hold an informal interview/discussion with the applicant and one other person, e.g. an officer. Invite them to attend brigade activities as an observer over a prescribed period of time and engage in social activities. |

Security screening Volunteer Recruitment receives the application and enters details into the police site for vetting, which takes 20 working days. |

Acceptance – successful completion of medical and security
Decline – medical Note: All medical declines are determined by the Occupational Health Specialist. Volunteer Recruitment phones applicant to advise them of the reason for the decline and advises Brigade Leader to discuss other role options. Deline – security Volunteer Recruitment emails the applicant and advises the Brigade Leader. If a review is a possibility, then Volunteer Recruitment will suggest it and talk the Brigade Leader through the process. |
