About the theme: Safety, health and wellbeing
Safety, health and wellbeing are top organisational priorities.
Firefighters and operational personnel work in emergency situations and difficult conditions. Their work is often physically and psychologically demanding.
This survey includes questions about physical and psychological safety, health and wellbeing and some of the factors that contribute to this.
As it’s a short pulse survey, it asks a few key questions but cannot cover everything – it's one opportunity for you to let us know about your experiences.
There are many other opportunities available to you to provide feedback, including speaking with your manager or brigade leader, your regional safety, health and wellbeing advisor or wellbeing advisor, or your Health and Safety Representative or Advocate. Recording events in Safe@Work(external link) is another way you can ensure your safety, health and wellbeing experiences are reported.
The responses to the survey will guide Regions and Branches to use their results to inform mahi in their areas. It will also be used to inform organisation-wide work including the mahi of our Safety, Health and Wellbeing directorate and our Eke Taumata programme(external link).
We all have a part to play to make sure that Fire and Emergency is a safe, positive and inclusive place to work and volunteer.
Taking part in our pulse surveys is just one small way you can help us measure where we are at now, and, over time, how we are progressing.
The results of this short ‘pulse check’ survey will inform organisation-wide initiatives and help us measure where we are at now, and, over time, how we are progressing.
They will also guide Regions and Branches to use their results to inform mahi in their areas.
About the 'your say' survey
People are at the heart of everything we do at Fire and Emergency. We run surveys to help us understand how people feel about being part of Fire and Emergency. Surveys allow us to measure progress as we work to improve what we do.
We want to hear from you through our people survey, 'your say', our new way of running our people surveys.
Instead of one big survey that takes a lot of time, we run three short surveys on three different topics. This approach allows us to take a quick ‘pulse check’ of where we are at now, and how we are tracking over time.
It's easier for everyone to take part – in addition to individual survey links sent to people’s emails, an open link can also be used to access the survey.
Each survey has a different theme:
- People experience and leadership capability
- Diversity, inclusion and cultural capability
- Safety, health and wellbeing
These topics will remain the same so that we can start to track our progress year on year in these three areas.
The themes for our surveys are focussed on our people and their experiences here. The themes are based off the strategic goals of our Tauākī Takune 2023–2027 - Statement of Intent(external link)(external link).
Our partner, Ipsos, independently runs the survey for us. Their teams have a wealth of experience in this type of mahi. Ipsos | Market Research | Australia.(external link)(external link)
