Wrap up: 2024 UFBA Conference Hui
From 1-3 November, the United Fire Brigades’ Association (UFBA) held its annual AGM and Conference Hui at Te Pae Convention Centre in Ōtautahi.
More than 600 volunteers attended the conference, and the theme this year was ‘mobilise’ - mobilise yourselves, mobilise each other, mobilise your brigades within your communities.
This year Fire and Emergency hosted two breakout sessions focused on Capability, and Culture and Reduction, Readiness and Recovery. We also had quickfire Q&A sessions in hotspot sessions that were focused on trucks and equipment, technology and training, and uniforms.
A copy of Fire and Emergency’s breakout presentations are now available here:
Breakout 1 - Capability [PDF, 4.2 MB]
Breakout 2 - Culture and Response, Readiness and Recovery [PDF, 3.3 MB]
A copy of the transcript for Kerry Gregory's spotlight session is available here: Spotlight: Fire and Emergency CE, Kerry Gregory - Support and Investment in Volunteers. [PDF, 258 KB]
All recordings from the conference are now available on the UFBA website: ufba.org.nz/UFBA-Hui-24-recordings(external link).
The exhibition space was abuzz this year with lots of positive interactions with our volunteers. This provides a great way for us to share information, but also better understand the experiences of our volunteers and the challenges they may face.
A post-event survey has now been sent out to all delegates who attended the conference and we encourage you all to send in your feedback to the UFBA, as it helps inform future conferences.
