Winter edition of Ignite out now

In our Winter edition of Ignite, we celebrate our people across the country as they give their time and energy beyond firefighting, like supporting their communities or participating in physical and sporting challenges.

Read about Ryan Thomson from Spreydon Fire Station and his passion for speed and adrenalin as he became Fire and Emergency Sportsperson of the Year.

You might recognise some of the Fire and Emergency personnel who competed in the gruelling Firefighter Sky Tower Stair Challenge. Together they raised nearly $1,370,000 for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand.

You'll find stories that profile our risk reduction work, highlight urban and rural crews working well together, and show our people standing up against bullying.

We also say goodbye to Hon Paul Swain as he looks back at his time as Chair and reflects on all the amazing people he's met at Fire and Emergency and the work they do in their communities.
