It is with great sadness that the Paraparaumu Fire Brigade advise of the passing of former CFO Wayne Sarjeant QSM.

Wayne passed away on Saturday 7 December 2024 surrounded by his family in Nelson. The family have held a private service for Wayne.

Wayne was a brigade member for 35 years, during which he was the Chief Fire Officer in Paraparaumu for 18 years, retiring in 2012.

Wayne was an amazing person who influenced many in the New Zealand Fire Service, not only in Paraparaumu but around New Zealand.

In remembrance of Wayne, the family have asked that any person wishing to make a donation should please do so to their local hospice, or to Cancer Society New Zealand.

Cards can be sent care of the Paraparaumu Fire Station (22 Te Roto Drive, Paraparaumu) where they will be passed to the family.
