We’re now at the halfway point for consultation on our proposed Operating Model, and draft Volunteerism and Risk Reduction Strategies.

It’s been a busy last few weeks with many of you taking part in discussions with your Brigades and Fire Forces.

We’re also seeing plenty of good conversations happening on ConsiderThis and, as at mid-September, over 1,400 of you have logged in to have your say. Thank you to those of you who have taken part so far and, if you’ve yet to log in, there’s still plenty of time to do so.

We’re seeing consistent feedback and good discussion across all regions and NHQ on key topics:

  • Operational Boundaries has had lots of discussion with the proposed boundary changes between Regions 1 and 2 generating the most debate.
  • The draft Volunteerism Strategy is also a popular topic, with people broadly supportive of the new strategy.
  • Visual Identification is important to get right and we’re seeing that this matters a lot to people.

Strategic Leadership Team consultation and next steps

The consultation on the proposed changes to the accountabilities, structure and roles of the Strategic Leadership Team closed on 20 September 2018. Thank you to those of you who provided your feedback.

Chief Executive Rhys Jones will review and understand the feedback from the Strategic Leadership Team consultation and will also include relevant feedback from the proposed Operating Model consultation to inform his decision. Because of this, timeframes for sharing final decisions on the Strategic Leadership Team structure are not yet known. However, if feedback does not result in significant changes to the proposed structure, we anticipate providing a final decision in late October.
