Pink Shirt Day is about working together to stop bullying by celebrating diversity and promoting kindness and inclusiveness. We celebrate Pink Shirt Day every year to raise awareness and support to speak up, stand together and stop bullying. It is fundamental to our purpose and consistent with our organisational values – Kia tika, Manaakitanga, Whanaungatanga, Auahatanga.

Bullying and harassment are not acceptable at Fire and Emergency, and we recognise we still have a way to go until everyone feels safe in our workplace. We are making steps towards achieving this culture change, as you will have seen outlined in the Kia Toipoto action plan we shared last month.

To mark the day this year, everyone is encouraged to wear a pink shirt, if you can, and have a hui with your colleagues, crew, or brigade about Fire and Emergency’s values, and how you can bring them to life.

This is also a great opportunity to remind our people that there are resources available on the Portal if you have experienced or witnessed bullying and harassment. Click on the links below for more information.

Everyone at Fire and Emergency has a shared responsibility for ensuring our workplace is safe and free from harassment and bullying. Remember, we are better together – Whanaungatanga [PDF, 651 KB].
