Consultation on proposals for the Technical Competency Framework (TCF) opened on 23 August and closes at 5pm, 19 September, so there’s still plenty of time to have your say.

The TCF will help assure our people and the communities we serve that those managing severe events have the skills, knowledge and attitudes required to do so safely and effectively. We’re seeking feedback on the high-level design of the Framework, and other related proposals.

The full document, as well as FAQs and background information, are on the TCF Portal page. The document sets out proposals for how the TCF could work within the unique context of Fire and Emergency New Zealand.

How to submit feedback and ask questions:

Feedback and questions can be submitted via ConsiderThis. Please take the time to read through the proposals before submitting feedback. Consultation is open to everyone at Fire and Emergency and their unions and associations.

All employees (apart from NZPFU members – see below) should have received an email to their Fire and Emergency NZ email address with login details to ConsiderThis on the day consultation commenced. If you did not receive an email, please contact the TCF Project Team with your name and preferred contact email on considerthis@fireandemergency.nz.

Please take the time to read the Consultation Document fully before submitting. We also recommend attending the Q+A session which we will invite you to.

NZPFU members: The NZPFU has previously requested that NZPFU members are not provided with access to ConsiderThis. Instead, NZPFU has advised that feedback from their members should be sent via the NZPFU, to be passed on to Fire and Emergency with or via a collective submission, at the following email address: secretary@nzpfu.org.nz.
