The Australasian Police and Emergency Services Games (AP&ES Games) took place last week and have been celebrated as a success! After a tough few years, it was a great opportunity for competitors to come together and build camaraderie with other Police and emergency service organisations across Australasia.

The games were based in Rotorua, and the first time in Aotearoa since 2012. Approximately 300 Fire and Emergency personnel attended the games, with nearly 3,000 competitors overall from across the motu, Australia, Cook Islands and New Caledonia.

Congratulations to all competitors, for taking part at the Games and for any placements in your chosen events. Special mention goes to the Te Tai Tokerau Waka Ama men’s and woman’s teams for combining across Districts and Brigades, no full team trainings, and coming together, having fun, and some great results.

Senior Firefighter Jake Neaves from Queenstown Volunteer Brigade achieved eight medal placings across his events and summed the Games up: “The Games have been a blast! Nothing beats competing against thousands of emergency service athletes, reconnecting with old friends and making new ones. I'd recommend them to anyone. Bring on Tasmania 2025!”

Check out below some of the early results and photos we’ve received so far. If you attended the Games and we don’t have your results, or you’d like to share some photos, please email communications@fireandemergency.nz
