New Zealand will observe a one-off national public holiday on Monday 26 September to mark the passing of Queen Elizabeth ll.

South Canterbury Anniversary Day was to be held on 26 September but as legislation dictates that only one public holiday can occur at a time, South Canterbury Anniversary will be moved.  A decision on the new date is to be announced soon.

Managing the change in SMS:

To manage this, South Canterbury Anniversary has been removed from SMS and will be replaced later this week with the one-off national public holiday.

Where annual leave has been rostered for 26 September 2022, a public holiday refund (PHR) will automatically added on the next shift after the leave group ends.

Anyone working on any of the three shifts that intersect the public holiday will receive a usual public holiday rate for the hours worked and 1 x stat holiday credit.
