Gumboot Friday raises awareness of depression and other mental health conditions and opens the conversation about our psychological wellbeing while raising money for young people who need counselling. It's a fun way for our people to support the communities we serve using a unique Kiwi icon – the gumboot.

Understandably our minds are focused on COVID-19 right now. This unprecedented situation presents many challenges to the way we work and the way we live. It brings our wellbeing into focus, and this year we’re approaching Gumboot Friday in a slightly different way.

We’d love to see you wearing your favourite gumboots while working from home or pictures of you and the members of your bubble in your gumboots! You can send in a photo to show your support and we’ll pick a few of the best to post on the Portal.

Send your photos to – communications@fireandemergency.nz

If you need support, there are several support services available to all Fire and Emergency personnel and their families. On this portal page(external link) (Seek safety, health and wellbeing support), you’ll find links to a range of support services available to you, both from within Fire and Emergency and external to our organisation.
