After more than five years, the Fire and Emergency 7s Rugby Tournament has made a highly anticipated return!

The tournament took place on Saturday, 15 February 2025 at the Wakatipu Rugby Club in Queenstown.

Career and volunteer firefighters competed in a day of intense and exciting rugby action. Six teams from Christchurch, Counties Manukau, Hamilton, Otago/Southland, Whangarei, and Wellington showcased their skill, teamwork, and passion for the game.

After a series of hard-fought matches, Wellington emerged as the champions. Congratulations to the winning team!

The event was a huge success, and the organisers would like to express their gratitude to everyone who supported the tournament, including the referees, the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Sports Council, Queenstown Lakes District Council, and the Counties Manukau team for their outstanding organisation.

Looking ahead, Wellington will be organising the tournament next year (location TBC). Keep an eye on your email and the Portal for updates as we prepare for another riveting tournament.

Fire and Emergency looks forward to seeing even more teams and supporters next year!
