The annual Pride parades are an opportunity to celebrate the rich cultural diversity of the communities we serve and provide a chance to bring our people together, have fun, and highlight issues relevant to rainbow communities on both a local and international level.

With the Auckland Rainbow Parade and Wellington Pride Parade taking place on 20 February and 10 April, we would like to invite you to join us as we celebrate rainbow communities in and out of Fire and Emergency.

The Auckland Rainbow Parade promises to be an uplifting event bringing a carnival-style atmosphere to Ponsonby Road with impressive, large-scale un-motorised floats. Participants and onlookers can expect a fun day of rainbow families, dancing, performance, and plenty of music!

Around 80 Fire and Emergency personnel and their families attended the Wellington Pride Parade last year (check out the photos below), alongside thousands of Wellingtonians cheering as our people waved flags, blasted sirens from the fire appliances and sprayed water at the crowd.

We’d love you to join us, so let the Fire and Emergency Pride team know how you'd like to get involved. Besides marching alongside colleagues, we need people to marshal fire appliances, as well as enthusiastic flag wavers and water gun sprayers, so there are plenty of options.

To register interest and ask us any questions, email Pride@fireandemergency.nz today! Just add Auckland or Wellington to the subject line.

Once registered, we will email you with more detailed information about each day.
