Consultation open for feedback - unified volunteer rank structure and mapping

We are working on a new rank structure that clarifies and standardises our approach to rank and role across Fire and Emergency.

This work is progressing in stages. The first stage is to decide how volunteer ranks map to a unified rank structure.

The consultation document for unified volunteer ranks sets out the project team’s proposed approach.

We invite everyone to provide feedback so that we can make decisions, finalise this work and move to the next stage.

Feedback will close at 5pm, Saturday 28 February 2026.
