The Public Service Commission has today reissued its advice to assist government agencies, including Fire and Emergency, to apply the Government Workforce Policy Statement and the Public Service Pay Guidance, which were announced last month.

The Guidance itself is unchanged except the review date has been brought forward to the end of 2022. While there was always flexibility in the Guidance, this latest advice helps make it more explicit. The advice follows discussions between Ministers and unions on the Guidance and provides additional detail on how the Guidance is to be applied.

We will now take some time to understand how we give effect to the Workforce Policy Statement and take into account the Pay Guidance in our own organisational context.
